Well, if you consider the murder of tens of thousands of people "negative", then yeah Imperialism was pretty bad. Not only were the Europeans killing the natives and forcing them out of there land, they were doing all out of greed. The Africans lost there land and forced to work, while the Europeans sat on a pile of money. Imperialism was not cheap either, it cost the European countries lots of money. That is why some leaders wanted to not participate.
